Kos can be accessed by air directly from several major European airports and from Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”. If you are thinking of travelling by sea from Athens to Kos, you may take a ferry from Piraeus port, which is the closest port to Athens airport. Kos is close to Rhodes (approx. 2hrs by ferry) and about 40 minutes from the Turkish town of Bodrum.
Please note that information on timetables for all means of transportation is subject to change by the time of the Conference. Updated information will be posted on our web site at a time closer to the dates of the Conference. General Information
Ferries to Kos (including car ferries) leave frequently from Piraeus port, that is located close to Athens, and from various other Greek ports, including that of Rhodes island (the largest of the Dodecanese islands).
Piraeus port
This is the major port located in the Athens area.
There are various weekly scheduled departures from Piraeus to Kos. Two ferry companies operate, leaving Piraeus at noon or night and arriving early in the morning on Kos island after approximately 10 hours or 15 hours (depending on the company you choose). You may book your ticket to include a cabin making the trip a relaxed journey. The scheduled ferry timetable bellow contains information on overnight ferry journeys to Kos which we feel will be the most convenient to you.

Access to Piraeus Port from Athens
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" is located 45 kms from Piraeus Port. If you choose to take the ferry to Kos, you can reach Piraeus port by the following means:
- Taxis can be easily found outside the airport. The taxi queue is next to Exit 3 of the Arrivals Level. An average journey by taxi to Piraeus port should take approximately 60/70 minutes, depending on the traffic and its cost should be around 40 - 45 Euros.
- Buses leave Athens airport approximately every 25 minutes (Express line E96) and reach Piraeus after 90 minutes. The bus queue is next to Exit 5 of the Arrivals Level. Current ticket price is 2,90 Euros.
- Metro (Subway system). The Metro runs every 10 minutes. You can take the Metro, number 3 line (blue) from the airport and reach Piraeus port in 60 minutes. Current ticket price is 6 Euros.
Note: When you arrive at the airport, in order to get to the metro station you should exit the main terminal building, cross the road and then take the elevator to the upper level. There you will cross a long corridor, to arrive at the metro station. Take the Metro number 3 line towards "Monastiraki". Using the same ticket and without leaving the station, you will switch at Monastiraki station from the blue to the green line, direction "Piraeus", which will take you to Piraeus port.

By sea from Bodrum, Turkey

There are daily ferries from Bodrum to Kos, operated by two ferry companies – Bodrum Express Lines and the Bodrum Ferryboat Association. They leave early in the morning (around 9am) and reach Kos at about 10am, depending on which ferry service you take. You can either book the slower ferry boat (50mins) or the faster Hydrofoil (20mins).
Both ferry companies have a nice pick-up service when you book before. A minibus collects all the clients and brings them to the ferry boat pier (at no extra charge).

Access to Conference Venue (KICC)
Access to Kos International Convention Centre from Kos International Airport “Hippocrates”
Kos International Airport “Hippocrates” is located 27 km from Kos town and 30 km from KICC. You can get to the conference venue either by taxi (recommended), airline bus (where applicable) or by renting a car at the airport.
- Taxis can be easily found outside Kos airport. An average journey by taxi to KICC or your hotel will take approximately 15-20 minutes, and its cost should be around € 25 - 30.
- Buses. No local bus service is available to take you from the airport to the centre of Kos town. However, if you are flying with Aegean/Olympic, they provide a bus to transport you to the city centre of Kos. From there you will have to take a taxi to get to KICC or your hotel.
- Car rental. Some major car rental companies have offices inside the airport terminal and around Kos island. Those of you who wish to rent a car can make your arrangements upon arrival at the airport.

Access to Kos International Convention Centre from Kos Port
Kos Port is located just 3 km from KICC.
Taxis. If you arrive by boat you can get a taxi to KICC which should cost around €10 and takes 10mins. This is a rather difficult process, since after every arrival the taxi queue is always crowded and taxis never seem to be enough.
Public Transportation. You may also take the public bus, which takes about 5 – 10 mins and costs €1. The bus stop is on a main road to the left of the harbour. Make sure you are going in the direction of “Psalidi”, and ask the driver to leave you at “Kipriotis Village”.

Public transport in Kos
The conference venue and the two hotels shown on the 3DTV-CON website have been specially chosen as they are regularly serviced by the local public bus transportation system. Bus stops can be found right outside your 3DTV-CON hotel and the average distance from hotels to the conference venue is 3.5km (a bus journey of approx. 10 minutes). Buses to and from Kos town and other villages on the island, run approximately every 10 min. and the bus ticket cost is € 1. A detailed timetable can be found posted on most bus stops in Kos.
