PRICE INCLUDES:
A passage to the city of Kos could be characterized as a giant voyage in time and history – a journey whose mark has been indelibly written on its monuments, and which has left an air of distinct fascination. Kos’ charm casts a spell on today’s guests as they gaze at the remarkable landmarks, which are the legacy of various cultural influences on the area. There are monuments from the Mycenean, Geometric, Archaic, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, as well as from the Middle Ages, the Turkish occupation, and the Italian invasion.
The tour starts by you being transferred by bus to the Asklepieion where you will be offered a guided tour of the area. After the Asklepeion you will be taken by bus to the Roman Odeon. You will then continue on foot to be offered a guided walking tour of the main sites. The tour will take in, among other things, the ancient stadium and the nearby mosaics of the nine muses and Europe’s abduction, the Roman Odeon and the Nymphaion.
Walking through the ruins of the ancient Agora, which was the centre of ancient Kos, you will make our way to your final destination, “Hippocrates plane tree”, said to be the oldest tree in Europe. Other interesting sites and buildings, reflecting different periods of Kos’ history, include the medieval castle, built by the knights of St. John, and mosques, which were built at the time of the Ottoman occupation of Kos.
The tour will end with the transfer, by bus, back to your hotel. |
