While it is planned that all excursions will be available before, during, and after the Conference dates, it is emphasized that any tour may be cancelled on any of those dates, if a minimum of 20 participating persons for each excursion is not reached. Please book early in order to avoid disappointment.
Kos and the surrounding islands offer many opportunities to enjoy your free time, while attending 3DTV-CON. You can choose an island or a city tour to admire the island’s natural beauty and the archaeological sites, or take day trips to the beautiful surrounding islands of Nissyros, Kalymnos, Patmos, or even to Turkey (Bodrum), which is only 45 min. away.

A gentle cruise of about one and a half hours brings you to the picturesque sponge island of Kalymnos. Kalymnos is famous for being one of the few regions in Greece, where sponge diving is still practiced. On this tour you will have the chance to visit a small, family-owned sponge workshop. After lunch in a taverna, we will go to the tiny island of Pserimos for swimming. |

Our next stop will be at the Asklepieion of Kos, the most important of the ancient sites in Kos, which served as a sanctuary, where Hippocrates worked and taught. |

This tour starts with a 45 min boat journey, to arrive at the city of Bodrum, on the Aegean coast of Turkey. Bodrum is located at the site of the ancient Greek city of Alicarnassos, birthplace of the historian Herodotus. Nowadays it is one of the most touristic places in Turkey and is famous for its open-air market. You can enjoy wandering around the market and may visit the medieval castle and the Mausoleum. |

Following departure from your hotel, we will drive to Kardamena village from where we will take the boat to Nissyros. A pleasant 1-hour cruise down the east coast of Kos will lead us to the volcanic island of Nissyros. During this trip we shall visit the volcano, explore the harbor town of Mandraki, where the majority of the population lives and also visit the picturesque monastery of Panagia Spiliani, precariously situated on a rocky hill opposite the harbour. |

Patmos island, the “Jerusalem of the Aegean Sea” is a lovely island in its own right, but is best known as the place where St. John wrote the ‘Revelation’. The tour takes in St John’s Monastery, that is built high on a rocky hill, and the cave where St. John received the revelation. After a visit to the medieval village of Chora, you will return to Kos. |
